Gameday #6: v. New York IslandersPosted: 29/01/2013
PITTSBURGH PENGUINS v. New York Islanders
Consol Energy Center, 7:30PM, Root Sports
The Islanders are getting better, so far they’re 2-2-1 and ahead of the Rangers and Flyers. I’m not saying it’ll happen this year, but the Islanders will make the playoffs soon.
John Tavares is no joke and I admit that I have a strange fascination with Mark Streit. Further Matt Moulson is literally exactly what the Pens have been missing on the Geno-Nealer line. They also now have Brian Strait, who we respected the most out of all the “Young Money” defensemen who have cracked the NHL lineup in Pittsburgh in recent years.
With that said it would be a huge mistake to think that the Pens can just walk all over the Islanders. Strange things always happen when the Pens play the Islanders and you have to be prepared for anything.
Hopefully the Consol crowd should do better than they did in the home opener. It seems nearly impossible for them to do any worse.
Simon Despres is back into the lineup with Matt Niskanen out for 2-4 weeks. According to Seth Rorabaugh he is slated to play with Kris Letang, we’ll see how long that lasts. Fleury is expected to be in the cage for the Pens.
Because it’s ridiculous it deserves to be mentioned that the Islanders do have Mark Streit and Brian Strait playing on the same pairing. Get ready for Steigy to give up on life trying to sort those two out.
I had my eyes dilated so I can’t see and my head is throbbing thus I’m cutting this short.
